Change is good. Sometimes, you have to burn it down and start all over again.
Chris has been working on a new technique here in the studio where he chars the timbers.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, he's testing out the process on one of the more difficult pieces we build - the Derailment Coffee Table.
Multiple species of wood used in this piece means the stain can vary dramatically - heck, even the same species will take it differently with the air-dried timbers we use.
His tests so far have yielded some really nice results.
Now if we can just get used to the smell of smoldering wood and not get nervous with the fire extinguisher, this might be a change we can do something with.
