Description

Distinctive one-of-a-kind designs like that of our Ladder Dining Table punctuate our furniture collection! This table brings historic preservation to the Industrial Modern style kitchen or dining room. The authentic vintage wood and steel materials combine to create an heirloom quality conversation piece for gatherings of family and friends.

Oversized at 9 feet long and 4 feet wide, we hand-selected bookmatched panels of boxcar flooring to create a seamless tabletop.

What’s a bookmatched top?

As railcars are dismantled, salvage crews stack up and set aside the materials. We take the 12-wide sections of tongue and groove panels from boxcars and lay them out to reconstruct the original floor layout. Doing so allows us to keep intact the heavy scarring as it continued from one section on to another.

The tongue and groove sections fit together perfectly when matched properly, and at nearly 100 pounds per 1-foot section, the hard maple wood makes for a stout, generation spanning piece of furniture. Put quite simply, it’s a massive 9-foot wide place to gather.

We crafted the steel base from the access ladder on the end of a decommissioned railcar.

Why don’t the legs match?

The asymmetrical base design of the legs comes from using the top and bottom sections of the ladder. We hand-selected the materials to make the table interesting from any angle and in slightly different ways.

Finish it off with a set of our Hobo Stools for one side of the table to give it an even more dramatic look and feel and show off the features of this gorgeous beast!
