ICHABOD - Toxic
Yes, we are railroaders, and yes, we work with freight graffiti artists to commission work. It's a fine line to walk, but it's impossible to deny the art found in this form of vandalism.
ICHABOD stands out as a legend among railroad graffiti artists. His three-letter ICH accompanied by a skull seems to grace most freight trains in the US. But he’s a virtual ghost with no social media presence and no digital footprint to speak of. Even among graffiti writers, he has a certain sense of mystery. He keeps his identity close to the chest, and tales abound of folks just missing him in a yard.
We took this panel from hopper railcar and created the canvas for the rail god to do with as he pleased. A devoted fan of the Rust-oleum paints, ICH adorned it with his familiar skull atop a pair of crossbones evoking a colorful rendition of the classic symbol for poison. The “force field” outline makes the image pop off of the dull grey hopper.
Nestled between two top hat sections and topped with a channel header from the original railcar, this piece from his 2021 residency with us stands out with its vibrant color and unmistakable ICH style.
Signed ICHABOD 2021 in his inimitable hand-style on the reverse.
