Posted by Sally Hendrick on May 14th 2025

Railway Interchange is North America’s largest railway exhibition and education conference, drawing over 5,000 rail professionals from around the world. Held May 20–22, 2025, in Indianapolis, the event showcases cutting-edge technology, products, services, and research from across the industry. Attendees will connect with leading innovators from REMSA, RSI, and RSSI, making it a must-attend for anyone in the rail sector.

Indianapolis: The Crossroads of America

Indianapolis owes much of its early growth to the rise of the railroad. The city’s first rail line—the Madison and Indianapolis Railroad—rolled in by 1847, linking the capital to the Ohio River and opening the door to commerce and expansion. Positioned near the state’s center, Indy quickly became a rail magnet, with lines fanning out in every direction by the 1850s.

In 1853, the city made history with the opening of Union Station—the first in the U.S. to serve multiple rail lines under one roof. This innovation helped solidify Indianapolis as the "Crossroads of America," a key shipping and travel hub through the 19th and early 20th centuries.

If you haven't experienced our designs yet, you're in for a treat at Railway Interchange, as we are bringing desks and a sculpture to outfit our booth.

The sculpture, crafted from 14 straight sections of reclaimed steel rail dating back to the early 1900s, pays tribute to the timeless geometry and artistry of the railroad. Though each rail began straight, decades of service shaped them—evident in their worn curves, spike marks, and weathered patina. Some even bear the Carnegie name, tying the piece to a bygone industrial era. Set in authentic granite ballast, the sculpture echoes the enduring strength, history, and elegance of railroading—indoors or out.
