Timber Top Desk (No. 30)

Long before concrete panels and rubber crossing systems, every railroad grade crossing was built from timber. Those heavy hardwoods carried wagons, automobiles, and generations of travelers safely across the rails. The Timbertop Desk pays tribute to that era when strength, simplicity, and craftsmanship defined American engineering.

We crafted the desktop from authentic North American railroad crosstie timbers selected before they entered the creosote treatment process. The result is genuine railroad hardwood that is creosote-free while preserving the unmistakable character of the material. Original incisor marks from the manufacturing process remain visible, along with the grain, knots, and imperfections that tell the story of the tree itself. We don't erase those details - we embrace them. They're what makes every desk one of a kind.

We include a desk pad with every Timbertop Desk, creating a refined work surface while allowing the beauty of the reclaimed timber to remain fully on display.

Framing the desktop are two sections of vintage American railroad rail, each bearing the foundry brands that once rolled from steel mills more than a century ago. Connecting them are authentic railroad gauge rods—the same structural components used on active railroads to maintain the precise distance between the rails in areas subjected to tremendous forces. Here, they provide both structural integrity and an unmistakable industrial presence.

Every piece of steel has been documented, researched, and preserved. Each desk is accompanied by a personalized Certificate of Authenticity detailing the history of the reclaimed materials used in its construction.
