Description

Massive wood timbers and vintage steel make our Railbed a statement piece for the bedroom in the modern home. The solidly build frame echoes the strength of the Industrial Age while its low-profile platform design maintains space in your nighttime sanctuary.

The gentle arc of the footboard softens the silhouette of the bed and evokes classic architectural elements such as the truss bridge design familiar through the Hell Gate Bridge in New York and the Sydney Harbor Bridge in Australia.

The side rails are exactly that – two sections of steel rail taken from an old railway bed during renovations of the line after over a century of service. The dark patina and deep pitting of the steel resulting from decades of exposure to the elements adds to the character of the repurposed metal.

The headboard drives home the connection to the railroad with its full-length timber punctuated by two short sections of vintage rail. Wall-mounted separately from the platform, the headboard offers the versatility to be set at any height to accommodate any thickness of mattress and any number of throw pillows – no matter how excessive that quantity might be.

Pair the Railbed with a set of our 18” high Switchman Stools as pictured or go taller with the 24” version to complete that minimalist industrial look and feel.

Shown in Queen size, we also offer the design in other sizes including but not limited to King, California King and full.
